sfh has experience in copy editing, stylistic and structural editing, and formatting of academic papers, articles, book chapters and creative writing. Most of her work involves an amalgamation of several types, tailored to and with the client and their work.

A quick breakdown of the types of editing:

Copy Editing is when sfh does a line-by-line edit of the work to identify and fix grammatical errors, misspellings, incorrect usages as well as ensuring the text is consistent and comprehensive to your chosen audience.

Stylistic Editing is when sfh pays particular attention to your voice and style, to ensure the entire work is reflective of you. This often includes some copy editing.

Structural Editing is when sfh looks at the bigger picture, assessing the work for flow, plot/narrative structure, character arcs, etc. This is used for both non-fiction and fiction, and is often most valuable when done earlier on in the process.

Formatting is when sfh tightens and tidies formatting elements such as references or bibliographies, and how the document itself is formatted (spacing, headers, etc). This is often most valuable when done later in the process.

I brought you a collection of unfiltered stories about my life as a cinematographer that was in serious need of editing and you transformed my 200,000-word tome into a sleek and professionally edited manuscript. Thank you for your patience and inspired guidance.
